The most powerful tool ever invented to get public attention is the media.
Many fear it because it can work against them and so they stay away from it. Many do not know how to use the media to get the right kind of attention and instil in the desired image in the minds of the viewers and readers, and they too shy away from it. Many make public relations mistakes and never recover from it - because the public does not forget. The right perception in the mind of Joe Public will give the kind of visibility that can open doors to better business and career opportunities; among others.
However, creating the desired visibility in the media can be a daunting task if you are totally unaware of the workings of the media and its practitioners, or are unable to draw the attention of the journalist to you or your organisation. This course will enable you to understand how the media and journalists relate to newsmakers, and how reporters go about their work. We help participants to understand the process from the media point of view.
We will show the mechanisms in a newsroom, the decision-making process and the key players involved. Participants will also be informed of the ways to generate good publicity and avoid bad publicity. There will be workshops on how to generate stories and write press releases, and mock press interviews to give participants an idea of how the reporters operate and think. The course is practical with real life examples and it will be conducted in an easy conversational manner so as to create opportunities for participants to seek clarification, get further details and air their doubts.

Knowledge is power. The more you know about reporters and the way they operate, the stronger you’ll be when you face them. |
